Opening Reception:

Michael Wille (Bloomington, IL) exhibited 17 geometric abstractions both large and medium scale. Looping takes its title from the method in which Wille’s works reflexively inform each other during their making. Using various kinds of masking techniques, portions of a painting’s masked imagery are used on other paintings making their language uniform despite the other various kinds of paint application he uses such as trowelling, spraying, and blotting. Wille’s works contribute to the long lineage of abstract painting and reinvestigate the act of painting within today’s diverse use of media. Wille was featured in the Peoria Journal Star.
